Jack DeFur

My name is Jack DeFur and I graduated from Hardin Valley Academy in 2014, where I was honored with the Scott Impellizeri Memorial Scholarship. After graduating from HVA, I attended East Tennessee State University for two years before transferring to The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where I will graduate from in the spring of 2018. I will be graduating with an undergraduate degree in Special Education K-12, and plan on returning to Knoxville that next fall to teach special education at the high school level. I am also getting married in June of 2018! My goal for my career is to help prepare people with and without disabilities for life after high school, whatever that may look like. I believe that every single person has what it takes to be successful. In most cases, people do not achieve their goals without having people in their corner rooting for their success. The Impellizeri family was one group of people who helped give me the jump start that I needed in order to continue my education, which is something that I will be forever thankful for. It is and always will be an honor to have been recognized by this memorial scholarship. Rest in peace Scott.
